Free CV & resume checker
Drop your resume as a PDF or paste the text. Get a list of fixes, biggest first: sections, length, contact details, bullets without a number, weak openers, and the keyword match if you paste a posting. Free, no signup; nothing leaves your browser unless you choose to open it in the editor.

Result
The fixes appear here once there is a resume to read: which sections were found, how long it runs, how many bullets carry a number, and, if you paste a posting, which of its terms you use.
How to use it
- 1
Drop the PDF, or paste the text
The PDF is read on your device. If it is a scan with no text layer, paste the text instead. The whole resume gives the best read; one section is enough for a quick look.
- 2
Read the fixes in order
The list is ordered by how much each fix is likely to matter: a missing experience section or contact details first, then bullets without a number, then length and wording.
- 3
Add the posting if you have one
Paste the posting and the checker adds the keyword match: the share of the posting’s terms your resume uses, with the missing ones named.
What it is, and is not
Checks you can see, not a verdict from an ATS
Each fix rests on something you can check yourself: a heading found or not, a count of words, a count of bullets with a number, the posting’s terms present or missing. No system’s grading is simulated, and there is no single number for the whole resume.
Nothing leaves your browser until you say so
The PDF is read and the text is checked on your device. We record that the checker was used and the counts it showed, never the text. The one exception is yours to make: “Open this in the editor” sends the text to Resume Master so it is laid out for you after you sign in, and it is deleted once opened.
The editor adds what text alone cannot show
Once your resume is structured in the editor, the in-app check also reads format, completeness and length section by section, with the same keyword match running live as you tailor it to a posting.
Questions about the free cv & resume checker
Is this a free CV checker or a resume checker?
Both: the checks are the same for a two-page CV on A4 and a one-page resume on Letter. Sections, length, contact details, numbers in bullets and the posting’s terms matter in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the US alike.
Does the checker upload my resume?
No. The PDF is read in your browser and the checks run there. Only if you click “Open this in the editor” is the text sent to Resume Master, where it is parsed into your account after you sign in and then deleted.
Why is there no overall score?
Because no outside tool can see how a particular employer’s system ranks a resume, and a single number hides what to do. The checker gives you fixes you can act on and, when you paste a posting, the one number that is honest: the share of its terms your resume uses.
What counts as a bullet with a number?
Any figure: a count, a percentage, a sum of money, a multiplier or a time frame. “Cut errors by 35% over 12 months” counts; “Reduced errors significantly” does not. The rule is the same one the Resume Master editor uses for its metric badge.
What are weak openers?
Phrases such as “Responsible for”, “Worked on” or “Helped with” that describe a job rather than what you did. Start the bullet with the verb for the action and end it with the result, in the posting’s words where they are true of you.
How long should a resume be?
Most that get read run 350 to 700 words, one or two pages. The checker flags under 250 words as short and over 1,100 as long; neither is a rule, but both are worth a second look.
What happens when I open it in the editor?
You sign in to a free account (3 AI credits, no card), the text is laid out as a resume in a Template, and the assistant can make the fixes with you. From there you tailor it to a posting in about two minutes. Free accounts export PDFs with no download limit; see pricing.
