Paralegal, Civil Litigation and Residential Conveyancing, SQE1 passed
Application for Commercial Litigation Paralegal, ref DR/2026/07
Dear Mr Adeyemi,
I would like to apply for the Commercial Litigation Paralegal post in your dispute resolution team, advertised on your careers page. I am a litigation paralegal at Avon and Severn Solicitors LLP in Bristol, where I support three solicitors on about 60 live contract, property and debt matters in the county court and the High Court, and I passed SQE1 in 2025. Your advert asks for a paralegal who can run a file to trial under supervision, and that is the work I do now.
For a four-day county court trial last year I prepared the disclosure list, the witness statements and a 1,400-page trial bundle; the case settled on the second morning on terms the client accepted, and counsel praised the bundle. I keep every limitation date and CPR deadline in the firm's diary system and have not missed one in four years. I draft letters before action, Part 36 offers, directions questionnaires and routine applications for solicitor review, and I file through CE-File and the county court online service.
I also run the firm's debt recovery caseload of about 25 matters under supervision, from letter before claim to enforcement, and most of those recover without a hearing. Before litigation I spent two years in residential conveyancing at Kingswood Property Law in Bath, running 20 to 25 files a month from searches to completion, which is why property disputes and Land Registry evidence hold no surprises for me. I am recording qualifying work experience towards admission as a solicitor, and your firm's practice of signing off QWE for its paralegals is one of the reasons I am applying to you.
My CV is enclosed with the details of both roles and my SQE1 result. I would welcome an interview, and I can bring a redacted bundle index and a letter before action as drafting samples if that would help. I am available at any time with a week's notice. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours sincerely,
Thomas Kellaway
