Customer Service Advisor CV Example (Ireland)

A Customer Service Advisor CV in Ireland is often read by a team lead at a shared-service centre who is hiring for a language first and a skill second. Put your languages and their level at the top, then the channels you work (phone, chat, email, social), the contacts you handle in a day and the measures your team tracks: customer satisfaction, first contact resolution, quality scores and handling time. Numbers and a language turn a common title into a specific, credible application.

The Sample CV below is for a Customer Service Advisor with five years at a multilingual travel support centre in south Dublin and an energy supplier's contact centre, supporting customers in Portuguese, Spanish and English. Each bullet pairs a measure with the habit behind it and shows the extra work that leads to promotion: escalations, training new starters and writing help articles that cut contacts.

Tailor it to the vacancy. A multilingual centre wants the language, the market you supported and the shift pattern you can work; a utility or telecoms employer wants accuracy and the regulator; a software company wants tickets and product knowledge. The US counterpart of this page is the customer service representative resume example, written for American employers on Letter paper. The ATS-Optimised template suits a short, plain CV for high-volume applying.

Updated . The person and employers in this Sample CV are fictional. Written for applicants in Ireland; the page for applicants in the US is the customer service representative resume example.

How an Irish CV differs

An Irish Customer Service Advisor CV differs from the American one in its title, its first section and its qualifications. The title is Advisor or Agent, not Representative; the first thing a shared-service centre reads is the languages block with a level for each; and the education line is the Leaving Certificate, a QQI award or a degree from home, not a high school diploma. Right to work matters because the multilingual centres recruit across Europe, and shift patterns matter because many of them cover other time zones.

For a customer service advisor in Ireland

  1. Languages first, with a level

List each language with native, C2, C1 or B2, and the markets you supported in it. A centre hiring for the Portuguese market will search the CV for the word before reading anything else.

  2. Advisor or Agent, not Representative

Use the title in the advert. Irish employers write Customer Service Advisor, Customer Support Agent or Customer Experience Specialist, and the US title reads as copied from a template.

  3. Leaving Certificate, QQI or a degree from home

Give the Leaving Certificate or its equivalent from your home country, a QQI Level 5 or 6 award if you have one, and a degree if you hold it. No employer in Ireland expects a high school diploma line.

  4. Right to work and shift patterns

EU citizens need no permit; everyone else should state the stamp they hold in one line. Say which shift patterns you can work, including evenings and weekends, because most centres ask at the first screen.

  5. The regulator and the ombudsman

Energy, telecoms, banking and travel in Ireland each answer to a regulator or an ombudsman: the CRU, ComReg, the Central Bank, the FSPO. Naming the one your employer answered to shows you understand why accuracy and complaint handling are audited.

Every CV in Ireland

A4 paper
The page is A4. Irish employers print and file on A4, and a Letter-sized PDF is the first sign a CV was written for the US.
Two pages is normal
Two pages is the norm for an Irish CV. Graduates fit one; nobody needs three unless the role is senior.
No photo
No photo, date of birth or marital status. Irish employers do not ask for them, and leaving them off keeps the page about the work.
Dates as DD/MM/YYYY
Day, month, year where a full date appears; month and year for each role. The US month-first order confuses the reader.
Irish English
Irish English follows British spelling: organise, programme, centre, licence, specialise.
Town or Dublin postal district, not a street address
"Dublin 8" or "Cork" is enough on the contact line. A full address is not expected, and the US-style "City, ST 12345" line never is.

How the CV changes with experience

The same customer service advisor CV, written at three levels: a profile and three bullets for each.

Entry level

Zero to two years, or a first post in the title

Patient, well-spoken school leaver with retail and hospitality experience helping the public in English and Polish, ready for a first Customer Service Advisor role.

  • Helped customers with questions and returns on a busy supermarket customer service desk.
  • Answered phones and took bookings for a family-run restaurant.
  • Comfortable learning a new till or booking system quickly.

Mid level

Three to seven years, owns a process or a workload

Customer Support Specialist with three years resolving software customer issues over chat and email for a Cork SaaS company.

  • Resolve 40 to 50 tickets a day for a payroll software product.
  • Keep customer satisfaction above the team target every month.
  • Document bugs clearly for the product team with steps to reproduce.

Senior

Eight years or more, leads people, budgets or programmes

Customer Service Team Lead with nine years coaching advisors, handling escalations and raising quality scores in a 120-seat contact centre.

  • Lead a team of fourteen advisors across three languages and review calls weekly for coaching.
  • Raised the team's first contact resolution through targeted training on refund rules.
  • Handle the most complex escalations and complaints referred to the ombudsman.

Skills to put on the customer service advisor CV

Hard skills

A second language with a stated level
Multilingual centres in Dublin, Cork and Galway hire for the language first, and a CEFR level tells the team lead whether you can take calls or only email.
Multichannel support
Most teams run phone, chat and email, so naming yours shows where you can start on day one.
Ticketing and CRM systems
Zendesk, Salesforce and Genesys are named in adverts, and experience with one shortens training.
Billing and refund rules
Many contacts are about money, and accuracy prevents repeat calls and complaints to a regulator.
Help centre writing
Articles reduce contacts, which managers value highly and can measure.
GDPR in customer contact
Identity checks and data handling are audited in every Irish contact centre, and a clean quality record shows you follow them.

Soft skills

Empathy
Customers calm down when they feel heard, which makes resolution easier.
De-escalation
Handling an angry customer well protects the company and your team.
Clear communication in every language you work
Simple explanations prevent follow-up contacts, and quality audits score for them.
Resilience
A full day of difficult conversations takes steadiness, and team leads look for it.

Mistakes that cost customer service advisor interviews

  1. No measures

Customer service is measured closely. Include satisfaction scores, first contact resolution, quality audit scores, handling time or contacts per day where you have them, with the period they cover.

  2. Languages buried in the skills list

A multilingual centre hires for the language. If it sits at the bottom of the second side, the team lead may never find it. Put it in the headline and in a languages block near the top with a level for each.

  3. Only personality traits

Patient and friendly is expected. Show it through results, such as a satisfaction score, an escalation resolved or a starter who passed probation because of your floor-walking.

  4. Leaving out tools and the regulator

Adverts name Zendesk, Salesforce or Genesys, and regulated employers want to see you know the CRU or ComReg exists. List the tools you use and name the regulator your employer answered to.

  5. Complaining about customers

Even in a bullet about escalations, keep the tone about what you solved. Write that you turned a disrupted booking into a rebooked flight and a refund, not that customers were rude.

Questions about the customer service advisor CV

What should a Customer Service Advisor CV in Ireland include?

Your languages with a level for each, the channels you support, the systems you use, your satisfaction and quality scores, contacts per day, escalations and training you took on, and your right to work and shift availability.

How do I write a Customer Service Advisor CV with no experience?

Use any job or activity where you helped the public: retail, hospitality, a college helpdesk, volunteering. Show patience and reliability with specific examples, put your languages at the top and say which shifts you can work.

Which measures should I include?

Customer satisfaction, first contact resolution, quality audit scores, average handling time and contacts per day. Use the ones your team tracked and give the period they cover.

How do I move up from Customer Service Advisor?

Show escalations, floor-walking, quality reviews, help centre writing and process improvements. These lead to senior advisor, quality, trainer and team lead roles, and in a shared-service centre to a market lead for your language.

How long should a Customer Service Advisor CV be?

One side of A4 is enough for most advisors, and two at most for a senior advisor or team lead. The languages, the measures and the systems should all be on the first side.

Should I mention a visa or stamp on my CV?

Yes, in one line. Write that you are an EU citizen or hold a Stamp 1G, Stamp 4 or a work permit. Shared-service centres ask at the first screen, and saying it on the CV saves a call.
