Recruiter Resume Example

Recruiters read more resumes than anyone, so your own will be judged by professional standards. Hiring leaders look for the roles you fill (level and function), your volume, your time to fill, and the quality of your hires, measured by how they perform and whether they stay. Relationships with hiring managers matter too, and good recruiters show it.

The Sample resume below is for a recruiter with six years in agency and in-house recruiting for technology and healthcare roles. Each bullet uses a recruiting metric (hires per year, time to fill, offer acceptance, diversity of slates) and shows the method behind it, such as sourcing strategy or a redesigned interview process.

Tailor it to the recruiting model in the posting. Agency roles want business development and placements; in-house roles want partnership with hiring managers and employer brand; high-volume roles want speed and process; executive search wants discretion and research. Name the applicant tracking system you use, since postings often do. If your role also covers wider people work, the human resources hub on the resume examples page is growing with each batch.

How the resume changes with experience

The same recruiter resume, written at three levels: a summary and three bullets for each.

Entry level

Zero to two years, or a first role in the title

Recruiting coordinator with a year of experience scheduling interviews and screening candidates, ready for a full-cycle recruiter role.

  • Scheduled over 400 interviews a quarter with few reschedules.
  • Screened applicants for hourly roles and moved qualified ones to hiring managers within two days.
  • Improved the candidate confirmation email, reducing no-shows.

Mid level

Three to seven years, owns a process or a workload

Corporate recruiter with four years of experience filling sales, operations and corporate roles for a growing retail company.

  • Fill 40 to 50 salaried roles a year across sales and operations.
  • Built a campus program that now fills most entry-level manager roles.
  • Report monthly on pipeline and time to fill to department leaders.

Senior

Eight years or more, leads people, budgets or programs

Talent acquisition leader with twelve years of experience building recruiting teams, processes and employer brand for fast-growing companies.

  • Lead a team of six recruiters and two coordinators hiring 300 people a year.
  • Implemented a new applicant tracking system and hiring process across the company.
  • Built the employer brand program, raising the share of hires from referrals and direct applications.

Skills to put on the recruiter resume

Hard skills

Full-cycle recruiting
Most roles expect you to handle intake to offer, and the breadth shows you can work independently.
Sourcing
The best candidates are often not applying, and strong sourcing is what separates good recruiters.
Applicant tracking systems
Postings name them, and clean data in the system helps the whole company report on hiring.
Structured interviewing
It improves hiring quality and fairness, and recruiters who teach it add value beyond filling roles.
Offer negotiation
Closing candidates protects all the work before it, and acceptance rate is a measurable result.
Recruiting metrics
Time to fill, acceptance rate and quality of hire show you manage recruiting as a business.

Soft skills

Relationship building
Recruiters rely on trust with both candidates and hiring managers.
Persuasion
Convincing a strong candidate to consider a role is often the difference-maker.
Discretion
Recruiters handle confidential information about people and pay, and employers need to trust you with it.

Mistakes that cost recruiter interviews

  1. No volume or role types

Say how many hires you make and for which kinds of roles. A recruiter hiring engineers and one hiring seasonal staff do different work.

  2. Skipping recruiting metrics

Time to fill, offer acceptance and retention of your hires are the numbers talent leaders track. Include at least two.

  3. Describing only the process

Screened candidates and scheduled interviews describe any recruiter. Show what you improved or achieved within that process.

  4. Ignoring hiring manager relationships

In-house recruiting depends on partnership. Mention training, intake improvements or satisfaction feedback from managers.

  5. A careless resume

Recruiters are expected to know what good looks like. Proofread carefully and keep the layout clean; your page is part of the interview.

Questions about the recruiter resume

What metrics should a recruiter put on a resume?

Hires per year, time to fill, offer acceptance rate and, if you have it, retention or performance of your hires. Add pipeline diversity if you tracked it.

How do I move from agency to in-house recruiting?

Emphasize long relationships with client hiring managers, candidate experience and repeat placements. In-house teams value partnership and process as much as volume.

Should a recruiter list the tools they use?

Yes. Name the applicant tracking system and sourcing tools you know, since many postings ask for specific ones.

What should a technical recruiter show?

The technical roles you hire for, your understanding of the skills involved, sourcing methods for engineers and your results with engineering managers.

Do recruiters need HR certifications?

They are not required for most recruiting roles, but a certification can help if you want to move into broader HR work.
