The people who hire recruiters, usually a talent acquisition lead or an agency director, want to know what you recruit for before they ask how well. A recruiter who fills nursing roles and one who fills senior engineering roles are not interchangeable, even with the same numbers. So this template places a skills block under the summary that opens with a hiring focus line: the functions, levels and locations you hire for, followed by your sourcing channels and systems.

Experience then asks for the measures of a recruiting desk: open requisitions at once, hires or placements per year, time to fill, offer acceptance, the share of hires still in seat after a year, and for agency roles, billings. A Certifications section follows, because sourcing and HR credentials come up often in recruiting postings and you want them easy to find. Education closes the page.

Your own resume is a work sample in this field. Keep it clean, consistent and free of the errors you would screen a candidate out for. The recruiter resume example shows a filled-in version.

How to fill in each section

  1. Summary: who you hire and at what volume

Lead with the functions and levels you recruit and whether you work in-house or at an agency. Give your usual requisition load in the second sentence so a reader can judge whether their desk would feel light or heavy to you. Finish with the roles in the posting. If you are moving from agency to in-house, say so plainly and name the hiring manager partnership you already practice.

  2. Skills: hiring focus first

The first line answers the question every recruiting leader asks: what do you hire for? Be specific about function, level and geography. Then list sourcing methods, including Boolean search only if you can write a string in an interview, and the systems you work in every day. If you hire internationally or in regulated fields such as healthcare, add a line for licensing checks or visa work too.

  3. Experience: volume, speed, quality of hire

Give hires or placements per year and the requisition load behind them, then time to fill against a team or company figure. Add offer acceptance and a retention measure for quality. One bullet should show method: a sourcing program, a referral campaign, or a change to how interviews ran. Agency recruiters should add billings and the number of clients. Leave candidate and client names off the page.

  4. Certifications: easy to find

List sourcing credentials and HR certifications with issuer and year. In-house teams that also handle onboarding or compliance often ask for an HR credential, and agencies notice sourcing training. If you hold none, delete the section rather than listing courses you only started.

  5. Education: last, one line

Degree, school and year. Recruiting has no required major; psychology, business and communications are common. A recruiter without a degree can delete this section when the experience above is strong.

Questions about the recruiter resume template

How do I show quality of hire if my company did not track it?

Use what you can verify: how many of your hires passed probation, were promoted, or are still in the job after a year. Written feedback from hiring managers also counts if you describe it briefly.

Should a high-volume recruiter present numbers differently?

Yes. Volume roles care about hires per week or month, applicant-to-hire speed, and show rates for interviews and first days. Replace the time-to-fill prompt with those, and name the hiring events you ran.

Can I use this template for a recruiting coordinator role?

Yes. Fill the second experience slot as the main one and focus bullets on scheduling volume, candidate experience and the records you kept accurate. Remove prompts about requisition load until you carry your own desk.

What if I left agency recruiting for in-house, or the other way round?

Keep both roles and let the bullets show the switch: billings and business development for agency work, hiring manager partnership and process for in-house work. The summary should say which model you are applying for now. If your next step is broader people work, the human resources manager resume template puts certifications first.

Is it free?

Yes. The Word files and the Google Docs copy are free to download, edit and use for any application. There is no signup and no email.

Will it read correctly in an applicant tracking system?

The layout is one column with standard headings and real text: no tables, text boxes, icons, columns or images, which are the parts parsers most often misread. Keep it that way as you edit.

Word or Google Docs?

Use whichever you edit in. The Word file opens in Microsoft Word, Pages and LibreOffice. The Google Docs link asks you to make a copy in your own Drive; the original stays blank for the next person. Send the posting the format it asks for, usually .docx or PDF.

Every application goes out fitting the job.
