A project manager reading a project engineer resume is sizing up how much paperwork and schedule they could hand you on day one. That depends on the jobs you have worked: their contract value, the building or system type, the delivery method and which phase you were on site for. So this template adds a Selected Projects block directly under the summary, one line per job, before the employer-by-employer experience. A reader gets your project history in five lines and then reads the bullets for how you ran it.

The experience slots ask for document volume tied to an outcome: submittals and RFIs turned around, change orders priced, schedule days recovered, punch lists closed. Write your own facts over each bracketed line and delete what you cannot support. Licenses and safety cards share a line in Skills, so an EIT or OSHA 30 is visible without a section of its own.

A filled-in version for a construction project engineer is the project engineer resume example.

How to fill in each section

  1. Summary: project range, delivery method, documents you ran

Start with your years and the range of contract values you have worked on, since that is the first thing a project manager uses to place you. Name the delivery methods, because design-build and hard-bid work demand different habits. Then list the documents and controls you own, and close with the next step you want. Contractors, owners and specialty subcontractors read project engineer differently, so say which side you have worked on.

  2. Selected Projects: one line each, newest first

Give three to five projects with type and size, contract value, delivery method, your phase and the completion year. Choose a mix that covers the sectors in the posting. Projects still under way belong here too, marked as in progress with the percentage complete. If your company's contracts are confidential, describe the owner by type rather than by name and round the value to the nearest million.

  3. Experience: document volume tied to time or money

Each bullet slot pairs a count of documents or tasks with an effect on schedule or cost. Turnaround time, dollars recovered, days saved and items closed are the measures a project manager trusts, since they show you kept the job moving rather than only filing paper. Field engineer years before the current title are worth two or three bullets; they show you have stood on the site you now document.

  4. Skills: controls, software, licenses

Separate the controls you know from the software you run them in, and name programs exactly as postings write them. The licenses line is where an EIT, a PE or an OSHA card sits; give the state and year for any license. Leave off design software you have only opened in school unless the posting is for a role that includes design.

  5. Education: degree, then relevant coursework

One line with the degree, school and year covers most applicants. Recent graduates can add a capstone or a construction management course that matches the posting. A construction management degree is as relevant as an engineering one for many contractor roles, so list it without apology.

Questions about the project engineer resume template

Should a project engineer resume list every project?

No. Pick three to five for the Selected Projects block, chosen to match the sectors and contract sizes in the posting, and mention the rest only as a count in the date line of each job. A long list makes it harder to see which work was yours.

Where do I put my EIT or PE?

In the headline if the posting asks for it, and always on the licenses line in Skills with the state and year. If you hold a PE and are applying for design roles, the civil engineer resume template gives licensure its own section near the top.

How does this template change for a manufacturing or plant project engineer?

Replace contract values and delivery methods with capital budgets, equipment and lines installed, and startup dates. The documents change too: drawings, purchase orders, validation protocols and commissioning checklists take the place of submittals and RFIs. Keep the same pairing of volume with a time or cost result.

When should I switch to a project manager resume?

Once you are running budgets and owner meetings yourself rather than supporting the person who does. Until then, keep the project engineer title and show that growth in your bullets; the construction project manager resume example shows what the next step looks like on paper.

Is it free?

Yes. The Word files and the Google Docs copy are free to download, edit and use for any application. There is no signup and no email.

Will it read correctly in an applicant tracking system?

The layout is one column with standard headings and real text: no tables, text boxes, icons, columns or images, which are the parts parsers most often misread. Keep it that way as you edit.

Word or Google Docs?

Use whichever you edit in. The Word file opens in Microsoft Word, Pages and LibreOffice. The Google Docs link asks you to make a copy in your own Drive; the original stays blank for the next person. Send the posting the format it asks for, usually .docx or PDF.

Every application goes out fitting the job.
