Front End Developer Resume Example

Front end developers are hired on what users see and feel: interfaces that are fast, accessible and faithful to the design. The resume needs to show that range in a few lines. Name the framework and the design system, then show the outcome of your work in terms a product manager would recognize, such as a quicker checkout, a lighter bundle or fewer interface bugs reaching production.

The Sample resume below is for a front end developer with six years at a software company and a design studio. Notice that it names components, performance numbers and accessibility work, rather than general claims about pixel-perfect design. Those specifics are what an engineering manager probes in the technical screen.

For each application, look at what the posting stresses. A design-system team wants component architecture and documentation; a growth team wants experiments and conversion; a platform team wants build tooling. Move the matching bullets up and mirror the framework names exactly. If your work spans the whole site, the web developer example may fit better, and the Kernel template gives skills their own column without hiding your experience.

Front End Developer sample resume

Marcus Ellery

Front End Developer, React and TypeScript

Denver, COmarcus.ellery@example.com(303) 555-0161

Summary

Front end developer with six years of experience building product interfaces in React and TypeScript for a B2B scheduling platform. Led the move to a shared component library now used by four product teams, and cut the main bundle by 40 percent without dropping a feature. Works closely with designers and treats accessibility as part of done, not a later ticket.

Experience

Front End Developer, Timberline Scheduling

Denver, CO

  • Built and documented a component library of 70 React components in Storybook, adopted by four teams and cutting duplicate UI code across the app.
  • Reduced the main JavaScript bundle from 1.2 MB to 720 KB through code splitting and dependency cleanup, improving first load on slow connections.
  • Rebuilt the booking flow with the design team; completed bookings rose in the two months after release.
  • Brought the app to WCAG 2.1 AA on its five most-used screens and added automated checks so regressions fail the build.
UI Developer, Aspen & Oak Studio

  • Turned Figma designs into responsive interfaces for fourteen client products, from dashboards to marketing sites.
  • Introduced TypeScript and a linting standard to the studio's front end projects, which cut bugs found in client review.

How the resume changes with experience

The same front end developer resume, written at three levels: a summary and three bullets for each.

Entry level

Zero to two years, or a first role in the title

Junior front end developer with a design background and a year of building React interfaces for class projects and freelance clients. Pays close attention to layout, states and keyboard navigation.

  • Built a React to-do app with offline support that I use to show testing and state management in interviews.
  • Rebuilt a local bakery's ordering page to work on small phones, where most of its customers ordered.
  • Fixed twelve accessibility issues on a volunteer project after running an automated audit.

Mid level

Three to seven years, owns a process or a workload

Front end developer with four years of experience shipping React interfaces for a SaaS product, with a focus on components, performance and accessibility.

  • Own the settings and billing screens, from design review to release.
  • Cut page load on the dashboard by lazy loading charts below the fold.
  • Wrote end-to-end tests for the signup flow that now run on every pull request.

Senior

Eight years or more, leads people, budgets or programs

Senior front end engineer with nine years of experience setting front end architecture, leading design-system work and raising the quality bar across several product teams.

  • Lead front end architecture for a product used by forty thousand businesses, across three teams.
  • Created the design system roadmap with the head of design and shipped version two with zero breaking migrations for consumers.
  • Run the front end hiring loop and mentor four developers toward senior roles.

Skills to put on the front end developer resume

Hard skills

React, Vue or Angular
The framework is the first filter on almost every front end posting, so match its spelling and version where you can.
TypeScript
Most product teams now expect it, and it tells a hiring manager you can work safely in a large shared codebase.
CSS architecture
Layout, responsive design and a consistent styling approach are what make an interface feel finished, and they are tested in take-home tasks.
Design systems and component libraries
Companies with several teams hire front end developers to keep the interface consistent, and component work shows you think beyond one screen.
Front end testing
Unit and end-to-end tests show you ship with confidence rather than relying on manual checks before release.
Web performance
Bundle size and load time affect conversion, so a measured improvement is concrete proof of impact.
Accessibility
Accessible interfaces are required by many employers and customers, and practical experience with it is still rare.

Soft skills

Working with designers
Front end developers who push back constructively on a design, and explain why, build better products and are valued for it.
Attention to detail
Interface bugs are visible to every user, so show it through lower bug counts or smooth releases.
Clear written communication
Component documentation and pull request notes let other teams use your work without asking you.

Mistakes that cost front end developer interviews

  1. Calling everything pixel-perfect

The phrase appears on so many resumes that readers skip it. Show fidelity another way: a component library other teams adopted, or a redesign that shipped without a round of visual bug fixes.

  2. No numbers on performance work

Improved performance is weak. Give the metric and the change, such as bundle size, load time or an interaction delay, and the page or flow it affected.

  3. Leaving accessibility off the page

If you have made an interface keyboard-friendly or passed an accessibility audit, say so. Hiring managers increasingly screen for it and few applicants mention it.

  4. A skills list with no evidence

Listing React, Vue and Angular together invites the question of which one you know well. Show your main framework in your bullets so the skills list is backed by experience.

  5. Forgetting the portfolio or code

Link a portfolio, a public repository or a live product you worked on. For front end roles, a reader wants to see the interface, not only read about it.

Questions about the front end developer resume

What is the difference between a front end developer and a web developer resume?

A front end resume goes deeper into interfaces: components, state, performance in the browser and accessibility. A web developer resume usually covers the whole site, including the server and the CMS. Match the title in the posting.

Should I include design skills on a front end resume?

Include design tools such as Figma if you use them to work with designers, and describe collaboration in your bullets. Do not present yourself as a designer unless the posting asks for both roles.

How do I show front end work that is behind a login?

Describe the screens, the users and the outcome, and add screenshots or a short case study to your portfolio. Many front end developers work on internal tools, and hiring managers know it.

Which projects should a junior front end developer list?

Two or three projects that show different skills, such as a data-heavy dashboard, a responsive marketing page and an accessible form. Link the code and a live version for each.

Is TypeScript required for front end jobs?

Not every posting requires it, but many product teams expect it. If you have used it, put it next to your framework in the summary so it is seen early.
