A lending manager opens a loan officer resume with one question: can this person take an application here on day one? So this template puts a Licenses block straight after the summary, with room for the NMLS ID, each state registration and the year you were first licensed. Only then does the page turn to production, which is the second thing a branch manager reads for.

Each job in the Experience section is built around the numbers a manager uses to size a loan officer: units and dollars funded per year, the loan programs you closed, how much of the volume you found yourself, and how cleanly files moved through processing. Each bracketed prompt carries a sample figure in parentheses. Swap in your own production numbers and delete any slot you cannot fill honestly; a blank slot is better than a guessed number a reference check will contradict.

Skills come after Experience because lenders hire on production first and systems second. Education closes the page. The loan officer resume example shows a mortgage originator's version with real-looking numbers in place.

How to fill in each section

  1. Summary: program, volume, source

Open with your years and the kind of lending you do, because a credit union consumer desk and an independent purchase shop hire very different people. The second sentence carries last year's funded units and dollars and how much of it you generated without company leads. Close with the market or team you want next. Rewrite the last line for each lender so it matches the channel in the posting.

  2. Licenses: high on the page, exactly as registered

Copy your NMLS ID and each state registration from your NMLS record, letter for letter, because the hiring lender will look them up there before an offer. Put a pending state on its own line marked pending, with the month you expect approval. Add the hours of continuing education you finished this year; it tells a manager your license will renew without a gap. Bank tellers or personal bankers registered through a bank list that registration here too.

  3. Experience: units, dollars, pull-through

Give funded production per calendar year, not a career total, so a manager can compare you with the people already on the team. Pair every big number with its source: company leads, your own referral partners or a builder relationship. Then add one line about quality, such as pull-through, turn times or audit results, because processors and underwriters will be asked what you are like to work with. Leave out rate-lock wins; they depend on the market, not on you.

  4. Skills: programs first, systems second

List only the loan programs you have actually closed, in the order the posting names them. A lender hiring for VA volume wants to see VA before conventional. The systems line should name the origination platform and the underwriting engines you have submitted through, since switching platforms costs a new hire weeks. Keep the regulation line short and concrete; one or two rules you work with daily say more than a list of acronyms.

  5. Education: last, unless it is your entry point

Degree, school and year on one line at the bottom. A degree is rarely required for an originator, so do not move it up to fill space. If you are coming in from another field, add one lending course or a state bankers association certificate here; it shows you have started learning the product before your first pipeline.

Questions about the loan officer resume template

What if my state license is still pending?

Write it on its own line in the Licenses block with the word pending and the month you expect it, next to the NMLS ID you already hold. Lenders often make an offer conditional on the registration, and they need to see the timeline before they schedule your start date.

How do I show production if I worked on a team?

Give your own funded units and dollars first, then say what the team closed and what your part was: the applications you took, the partners you brought in, the files you carried to closing. A manager will ask your former branch, so the split you write should match theirs.

Can a loan processor use this template to apply for an originator role?

Yes. Put your NMLS registration in the Licenses block as soon as it is issued, then use the first experience slot for processing work written as pipeline size, turn times and clean submissions. Those numbers tell a branch manager you already know what a closable file looks like. The bank teller resume example shows another common route in.

How long should a loan officer resume be?

One page works until you have two or three lending jobs worth describing. A second page is fine for a senior originator or a branch manager whose production history runs several years, as long as every line is a number or a license a reader can check.

Is it free?

Yes. The Word files and the Google Docs copy are free to download, edit and use for any application. There is no signup and no email.

Will it read correctly in an applicant tracking system?

The layout is one column with standard headings and real text: no tables, text boxes, icons, columns or images, which are the parts parsers most often misread. Keep it that way as you edit.

Word or Google Docs?

Use whichever you edit in. The Word file opens in Microsoft Word, Pages and LibreOffice. The Google Docs link asks you to make a copy in your own Drive; the original stays blank for the next person. Send the posting the format it asks for, usually .docx or PDF.
