A part-time opening exists because a schedule has a hole in it, so this template is built to be read by the person who fills that hole. Under a three-line summary sits a Schedule block: the days, the time windows, the hours per week and how you get to work. A shift lead can then decide in seconds whether you fit the gap before reading a single job.

Experience follows, with three bullet slots per job instead of five. Hourly roles are judged on reliability and on a few things you can count, and a short, honest entry beats a long one padded with duties. Skills come next as two plain lines: the equipment and systems you have used, and the cards or licenses that save a store training time. Education closes the page, though a current student can move it up to sit right after Schedule, since the school calendar explains the hours.

The bracketed text on each line tells you what to write there. Replace it with your own detail and delete any slot you cannot fill truthfully. The layout is one column with ordinary headings, so it prints cleanly for a walk-in application and uploads cleanly to an online one. How to fill in each section

  1. Summary: the job, the hours, one fact

Name the kind of part-time work you are asking for and a range of weekly hours, because a manager hiring for ten hours and a manager hiring for twenty-five read the same page differently. Then give your closest experience with one figure in it. End with your start date. If you send the page to a bakery, a pharmacy and a gym, change the first sentence each time and leave the other two alone.

  2. Schedule: the block a shift lead reads first

Write your availability as times, not adjectives. Flexible tells a scheduler nothing; Fri 4 pm to close, Sat and Sun any shift tells them where you fit. List the windows you cannot work too, so nobody books you into a lecture or a school pickup. Add the season, such as through May, when your hours will change, and how you get to work if the shift opens early or ends late.

  3. Experience: three bullets, each with a count or a trust marker

Hourly jobs are easy to measure once you think about a normal shift: orders made, phone calls taken, shelves faced, children signed in. Use a range if you are unsure of the exact number. Give one bullet to responsibility, because being handed keys or the bank bag says more about you than reliable ever will. Volunteer work, babysitting and a family business all count as entries with their own dates. Two or three roles fill the page.

  4. Skills: what saves the trainer an afternoon

Think of the first shift at the new place and list what nobody would need to show you: the register software you already know, making drinks, the phone and booking tools at a front desk, lifting and driving equipment. Put cards and licenses on their own line so a manager spots the food handler card or the clean license at once. Leave personality words out; the bullets carry them.

  5. Education: one line, or two for students

Give the school, the diploma or degree and the year. Students add expected and the month, which tells a manager how long you are likely to stay. A strong grade average, a sports team or a club officer role can take a second line on a first resume. Adults returning to work keep this to a single line and let the jobs and the schedule do the talking.

Questions about the part-time job resume template

Should a part-time resume be different from a full-time one?

Yes, mostly in what comes first. A full-time resume leads with experience; a part-time one leads with when you can work, because the opening is a gap in a rota. Keep the page to one side of paper, cut older jobs to a line each, and add the schedule block from this template.

How do I fill the experience section if I have never been paid?

Use the roles you have actually held: babysitting for neighbors, a church or club volunteer post, helping at a relative's business, team captain, tutoring a younger student. Give each one real dates and one bullet with a number. The no experience resume example shows a full page built this way.

I already have a full-time job. Should my employer be on a resume for a second job?

Yes. A current full-time job proves you show up, and the second employer needs to know your day hours so they can book evenings and weekends around them. Write it as a normal entry with your title and one or two bullets, then make the schedule block very clear about which evenings and weekend days are free.

Can I use this template for a seasonal or holiday job?

It works with one change: in the schedule block, write the exact dates you can cover, such as Thanksgiving week through January 2, and say whether you can take double shifts during peak weeks. For summer roles the summer job resume example is the closer match, and the cashier resume template suits holiday retail.

Is it free?

Yes. The Word files and the Google Docs copy are free to download, edit and use for any application. There is no signup and no email.

Will it read correctly in an applicant tracking system?

The layout is one column with standard headings and real text: no tables, text boxes, icons, columns or images, which are the parts parsers most often misread. Keep it that way as you edit.

Word or Google Docs?

Use whichever you edit in. The Word file opens in Microsoft Word, Pages and LibreOffice. The Google Docs link asks you to make a copy in your own Drive; the original stays blank for the next person. Send the posting the format it asks for, usually .docx or PDF.

Every application goes out fitting the job.
