The manager hiring a supervisor wants to know how many people you have run, on which shift, in what kind of operation, and what the crew delivered while you had it. This template puts those four facts on the date line of every job, so the reader has your span of control before the first bullet. The bullet slots then ask for team results: output, attendance, safety, quality and turnover, plus a slot for a hard call you made, such as covering a short shift or rebalancing a line.

Write over each bracketed line with your own numbers, cut what you cannot back up, and keep the section names plain. Skills follow experience because a supervisor is hired on results first and systems second. A Certifications and Safety Training block near the end holds the credentials operations postings screen for, such as OSHA cards and equipment certifications.

The same layout filled in for a distribution shift supervisor is the supervisor resume example.

How to fill in each section

  1. Summary: crew, shift, setting, measures

A hiring manager is checking fit before anything else, so name the setting, the crew size and the shift in the first sentence. The second sentence lists the numbers you are held to, using the posting's own words where they match: units per hour, labor percentage, service level, shrink. End with the one thing your crews would say you are good at. Rewrite this block when you move between settings, such as retail to warehouse.

  2. Experience: the crew's results, with your decisions behind them

Fill the date line with crew size, shift and setting so every job is comparable at a glance. Then give each bullet a result the whole crew produced and the decision of yours that moved it. Include at least one people result, such as a promotion you prepared someone for, and one judgment call made under pressure. If you were an acting or relief supervisor without the title, say so in the heading and give the months.

  3. Skills: people, operations, systems

Keep the three lines separate so a reader can see you handle both the people side and the numbers. Name scheduling and timekeeping tools exactly as the posting does, since operations recruiters often search for them. Leave out generic traits like team player; the people line should hold things you actually do each week, such as running the schedule or writing reviews.

  4. Certifications and Safety Training: current cards only

Operations postings often require an OSHA card or equipment certification before day one, so list each one with its year and keep only those still valid. Food and retail supervisors add food safety or alcohol service certificates. A short leadership course run by an employer counts too, as long as you can name it and the year.

  5. Education: last and brief

Most supervisor postings ask for a diploma or equivalent and prefer experience to a degree, so one line at the end is enough. Add a degree in progress with its expected year if you are working toward a management role. Coursework in business, logistics or safety can share the line.

Questions about the supervisor resume template

What if I have never held the supervisor title?

Fill the first slot with your current role and put any lead, trainer or acting-supervisor time in the heading. Use the bullets for the times you ran the floor: shifts you covered, new hires you trained, problems you fixed before a manager arrived. The operations manager resume template shows where the same path leads next.

Which numbers should a supervisor include?

The ones your manager reviews you on: output per hour or per shift, labor hours against plan, attendance, safety incidents, audit scores, turnover. One before-and-after pair per bullet is enough. If you do not know an exact figure, use the range your reports showed rather than a guess.

Should I list every hourly job from before I became a supervisor?

Keep the last one or two that show the work you now oversee, each with a short bullet list. Older jobs can be cut or kept as a single line so your dates stay continuous. Hiring managers like seeing that you know the floor job, not a long history of it.

How do I match the template to a posting's wording?

Read the posting for the measures and systems it names and use the same terms in your summary, bullets and skills. The free resume keyword checker compares the posting with your draft and lists the terms you have missed.

Is it free?

Yes. The Word files and the Google Docs copy are free to download, edit and use for any application. There is no signup and no email.

Will it read correctly in an applicant tracking system?

The layout is one column with standard headings and real text: no tables, text boxes, icons, columns or images, which are the parts parsers most often misread. Keep it that way as you edit.

Word or Google Docs?

Use whichever you edit in. The Word file opens in Microsoft Word, Pages and LibreOffice. The Google Docs link asks you to make a copy in your own Drive; the original stays blank for the next person. Send the posting the format it asks for, usually .docx or PDF.

Every application goes out fitting the job.
