Whoever screens business analysts usually starts with two checks: do you know our domain, and do you work the way our team works, whether that is user stories in sprints or process maps and formal requirements. This template answers both before experience begins. The skills block, right under the summary, opens with a domain line and then the methods and tools, so an insurance team or a supply chain team can see in a glance whether you speak their language.

Experience follows, with each slot asking what you analyzed, what you produced, and what changed in the business once it was used. Below that sits a short Selected Deliverables block, a list of the artifacts you can describe or show in an interview with their scale. Analysts are often asked for samples, and this block tells the reader what you could bring.

Replace the bracketed text with your own facts and remove what you cannot stand behind. To see the layout filled in, read the business analyst resume example.

How to fill in each section

  1. Summary: domain, bridge, result

Name the business domain first, because analysts who know claims or order-to-cash need less ramp time and readers in that domain notice. Say which sides you bridge, such as operations and a vendor development team. Give one outcome tied to a system or process you analyzed. Finish with the analysis skill you lead with; an IT team reading for stories and UAT and a process team reading for mapping want different strengths.

  2. Skills: domain line first

Most business analyst skill lists look the same, so the domain line is what separates yours. Use the business's own vocabulary: *subrogation*, *three-way match*, *prior authorization*. In the analysis line, keep the methods named in the posting that your bullets can back up. SQL earns a place only if you write queries yourself. If you configured a platform rather than only writing requirements for it, name the platform.

  3. Experience: analysis, artifact, change adopted

Every bullet should finish with what the business did differently because of your work, not with the document you wrote. Count what you can: stakeholders interviewed, stories written, steps removed, defects caught in UAT, cycle time before and after. Include one bullet where groups disagreed and you brought them to a decision; facilitation is half the job. Keep tool names for the skills block unless a tool is the point of the bullet.

  4. Deliverables: what you could show

List three kinds of work product with scale and context, never with confidential detail. This block prepares the interviewer to ask for a sample and tells them what kind of analyst you are: heavy on stories, on process models or on data. Pick the artifacts that match the posting. Drop the block when you are senior enough that experience bullets already make the same case.

  5. Education and certification together

Degree, school and year, then an IIBA or PMI certification on the second line. The ECBA suits analysts starting out, the CCBA and CBAP require documented hours, and the PMI-PBA appeals to employers that run formal project offices. Information systems or business degrees are common, but analysts arrive from many fields; the domain line in skills matters more than the major.

Questions about the business analyst resume template

What goes in the Selected Deliverables section if my work is confidential?

Describe the type, count and purpose of each artifact, not its contents. A line such as sixty user stories for a claims portal release reveals nothing private. In interviews, offer a sanitized sample or walk through the structure instead.

How do I use this template if my title was not business analyst?

Use your real title and fill the bullets with the analysis inside it: requirements you gathered, processes you mapped, tests you ran, reports you designed. Name the domain clearly, since domain knowledge is the most transferable thing you bring.

Should a business analyst who mainly writes SQL use this template?

If most of your work is queries and dashboards rather than requirements and process change, the data analyst resume example may describe you better. Otherwise keep this layout and put SQL in the tools line with one bullet that shows a decision it informed.

How long should a business analyst resume made from this template be?

One page through roughly the first seven years. Senior analysts who have led analysis on several large programs can use two, with the deliverables block on page one and earlier roles on page two.

Is it free?

Yes. The Word files and the Google Docs copy are free to download, edit and use for any application. There is no signup and no email.

Will it read correctly in an applicant tracking system?

The layout is one column with standard headings and real text: no tables, text boxes, icons, columns or images, which are the parts parsers most often misread. Keep it that way as you edit.

Word or Google Docs?

Use whichever you edit in. The Word file opens in Microsoft Word, Pages and LibreOffice. The Google Docs link asks you to make a copy in your own Drive; the original stays blank for the next person. Send the posting the format it asks for, usually .docx or PDF.

Every application goes out fitting the job.
